Double Booked!

RSPCA Open day and friends of Kirk Hallam Lake- 3rd July

We were kindly invited to attend our local RSPCA event at Stretton, Burton upon Trent and raised £64 in donations.  One lady also agreed to become a new sponsor for one of the RSDR dogs and another lady has since been in touch to apply to become a foster carer - (see news update).

On the same day, we were also asked to attend Friends of Kirk Hallam Lake.  Luckily, Sue, Tom and Joe were able to step in and man the stand.  They raised £44 and as always, we were really grateful that they were able to help us out

Street collection in Nuneaton

On Saturday April 2nd, RSDR was in Nuneaton town centre conducting a street collection.  We were supported that day by a number of volunteers that usually collect for greyhound rescues but had decided to help RSDR on this occasion.  We are so grateful for their help and of course, we had some doggy companions along .  Many thanks to the volunteers, dogs and of course, those that contributed to the collection.  We raised a total of £130 towards the refurbishment of the building in Bulgaria.

Markeaton Park Fun Dog Show

RSDR attended a fun dog show on Sunday March 27th at Markeaton Park, Derby with its stand.  The show was really well attended, despite the cold wind!  There will be another show in September and we hope to be present again.  We raised nearly £70 and talked to lots of people about the work RSDR is doing to save the street dogs.

RSDR at Crufts for second year running

RSDR had another great day at Crufts on Friday March 11th.  We had a table selling RSDR items and two 'Name the Dog' competitions which had raised a total of £174.72 by the end of the day.  Marc had kindly offered signed copies of his book 'Vet on Call: My First Year as an Out-of-Hours Vet' which we used as our prizes!

We had lots of visitors to the stall, some that had seen us there last year and had come back for an update to see how RSDR was doing one year on.

Once again, our team of volunteers worked really hard talking to everyone and getting donations from stall holders which will be used as fundraising items at future events.

A big thank you to: Heather, Jo, Charlotte, Becci, Vicky, Tim, Sam and of course Nikita who spent much of the day cuddling the many dogs that passed by the stand.   The day wouldn't have been the success it was without your help and support.

26th.September 2010, British Gas Great Salford Swim

Good news, the sponsored 1 mile swim in the murky waters of Salford Quays, Manchester has been completed by Julie, Heather, Julie(Heathers sister) & Terrie.  All the ladies did a great job in braving the the cold water of 14 degrees to raise £940 for the dogs. A supporter also generously offered to match the amount raised, so overall the total raised from this event stands at £1880 which is fantastic!! More details on the swim and results  here. Thanks to a volunteer from Erin hounds  and 'Dee' the greyhound  for coming along and supporting us, lets hope Dee gets rehomed soon. Also thanks to Sam, Nikita, Kerry, Kosta & George for cheering us on around the route.

Pup Aid , Stanmer House, Brighton

On 19th Sept, we attended PUP AID , which is ThePet.net’s Puppy Farm Awareness Day event for 2010 – a celebrity-judged dog show and boutique music festival at Stanmer House near Brighton. We raised over £90 and received some donated dog food which will be going to Bulgaria. Also received offers to attend future shows around the country and a number of people expressed an interest in sponsoring the dogs. Thanks to lush for generously donating the 'name the dog' prize of a cosmetics gift set.

Pooley Country Park Fun Dog Show

On 29th Aug we attended a Fun Dog Show at Pooley Country Park, Near Tamworth, where Julie was a Judge !! We had two large donations, Beryl from A1 Pet Line donated £100 and Stella from Animal Rescue Thessaloniki donated £60, so a massive Thanks to Beryl & Stella.
Also, Stella gave us lots of dog collars to sell for RSDR and two large boxes of Fish for Dogs Salmon Mousse which will be going to Bulgaria as a treat for the dogs. Despite having to dismantle the tent due to high winds and rain it was a good day for the dogs at RSDR.

Babbington Dog Rescue Fun Day

On August 21st 2010,  our good friends John, Sue, Tom and Joe attended the Babbington Dog Rescue Fun Day  in Nottinghamshire with a stall for RSDR.  They raised £26.34 which was great considering it absolutely chucked it down with rain keeping people away. Thanks to John, Sue, Tom and Joe for helping out again today :o)

On Saturday 7th August, Julie & Stella ( and her Greek rescue dog ) attended a fun dog show at Catton Hall  , Derbyshire.  We raised £89 for RSDR . On May 4th 2010, Julie attended a table top sale in Stanley Village, Derbyshire.  Some great friends came along to help out and together we raised over £85.00.  Here is my friend Kay and my other friend's son Tom at the sale and wearing their RSDR T shirts.

Crufts

RSDR were invited to attend the world's biggest dog show this year, Crufts.  We were guests of Marc Abraham, TV vet and patron of a number of charities, here in the UK and abroad.  It was a great opportunity to spread the word about the work of RSDR and to show people the many dogs that have been helped.  We received some fantastic donated goods from the many trade stands on the day and have auctioned some on ebay to help raise funds.
